Wedding Rings For Life

When a man and woman get married, two of the things that consume a hefty portion of their budget are their wedding bands. Of course, these pieces of jewelry are a staple for any ceremony where two people vow to be together forever. The bride is usually the more excited half of the couple and more often than not, this excitement has a lot to do with a sparkling diamond. Wedding bands, of course, mean so much more than the world’s most precious gemstone.

The history of wedding rings itself will have many stories to tell. It is said that these rings originated in ancient Egypt where people planted seeds in a circular pattern as a way of calling on nature to provide never ending harvests. This signifies eternal love for a couple who have stood before an altar to promise each other love until death. The circular shape of rings represents a cycle that never ends. Hence, rings have been used as a symbol of the unceasing love that married couples are expected to offer each other.

Although weddings rings stand for so much more than their physical value, it remains important for couples to pay extra attention to keeping them clean and safe. After all, they are supposed to signify two people who are about to spend eternity together.

Of course, all couples should wear their wedding rings all the time from the moment they get married. However, there are moments when these rings are better off not worn in order to keep them in good shape. For example, when washing the dishes, these rings should be taken off because they could react with dishwashing formulas. Even if the rings are made of precious metals and stones, exposing them to chemicals can still create a dulling effect.

Another way to keep these rings in tiptop shape is for them to be taken off as one works out in the gym. Rough surfaces, even gym clothes, can cause scratches on the both the metal and the stone, thus, diminishing their luster. Even basic hygiene and grooming products such as lotions and alcohol can create a film on these rings which will give them an old, worn-out look.

Aside from these basic tips, one important thing couples should remember is to assign a certain place in the home where these rings are to be kept when they need to be taken off. Sometimes, the issue of misplacing rings can sound impossible, yet it does happen in reality. Some people even have their rings insured but while this is not necessary, it can be a good idea for those who can afford. Those who cannot will simply have to rely on their good sense to make sure these rings stay with them for life.
